Tyler M. Perry

Lighting Designer, Polishing Shakespeare

Tyler M. Perry is an award-winning designer for theatre, television, and live events. At Kitchen Theatre Company, he has designed sets, lights, and/or projections for over 30 productions. His favorites include Monsters of the American Cinema, tick, tick…BOOM!, Bright Half Life, Throw Pitchfork, Peter and the Starcatcher, I and You, and Opus. Tyler is the recipient of the inaugural Norma Fire Emerging Artist of the Year award for his work during the 2014-15 season at KTC. He also received a SALT Award for Non-Performing Person of the Year for his work during the 2015-16 season. Across the country, his work has been seen at theatre such as Florida Repertory Theatre, Axelrod Performing Arts Center, Northern Stage, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, Geva Theatre Center, Ocean State Theatre, and Cider Mill Playhouse. His work on television has earned Telly Awards and an Emmy nomination and can be seen on BravoTV, Amazon Sports Network, NBC, Peacock, ABC, Fox Sports 1, and AOPA Live. Tyler is the Assistant Lighting Designer for 2017 Broadway revival of Miss Saigon, and national tours of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and Beautiful: The Carol King Musical.
