Artist's Statement
When I design and weave my tapestries, I am trying to make a form with monumentality and an illusion of depth. Neolithic stones have recently piqued my interest and study, but landscapes and human forms also draw me to draw them with tapestry material. They are not direct depictions, but are abstractions. I defy the flat weaving grid with depth illusion, layers and color juxtapositions. Each tapestry is woven in layers on a high warp loom, in a slow compelling climb up and out of the loom structure.
